Baseball: City Section season moves up two weeks
- Share via
The high school baseball season usually begins at the end of February, but that’s not the case with the City Section this season.
The season has been moved up two weeks because of conflicts with other spring sports, and the first official games can be played on Feb. 13. Other spring sports teams also begin earlier. The championship game in baseball will be played on May 30 at Dodger Stadium.
Official practice begins on Monday.
It means when some of the City Section teams start playing Southern Section teams at the end of the month, they might have a slight advantage from having started official action earlier.
The sitout period date for spring transfers to become eligible remains April 6, so if teams move up their schedule, players ineligible could lose out on additional games.
