Boys’ basketball: City Section teams go 0 for 13 in state playoffs
- Share via
The City Section expanded to six divisions this season in basketball, all designed to get more teams into the state playoffs.
But what’s the point if the teams can’t be competitive?
All 13 City Section boys’ teams went down to defeat on Wednesday in the opening round of the state playoffs, with each game producing a double-digit defeat. Seven were losses by 20 or more points.
In girls’ basketball, the City teams went 2-11. They were outscored by 287 points. The boys were outscored by 284 points.
Of course, there’s hope in the Open Division, where Fairfax and Westchester begin action tonight.
It’s clear the City Section, at least for this season, has fallen way behind and just getting into a tournament doesn’t mean teams will be competitive.
