Fairfax and Crespi, expected to be top 10 boys’ basketball teams by season end, could struggle in the opening month of the season because of injuries.
Fairfax has lost standout sophomore guard Robert McRae for eight weeks after he suffered a broken hand in practice and had surgery.
Crespi is still awaiting doctor’s clearance for standout junior guard Brandon Williams, who has been slowed by a knee injury. He’s not expected back until December at the earliest and will need to get into shape.
