Boys’ basketball: Kameron Chatman is headed back to Oregon
- Share via
To no one’s surprise, 6-foot-6 Kameron Chatman is leaving Long Beach Poly to return to Oregon, where he played until arriving after his sophomore year.
Chatman was declared ineligible by the Southern Section last season after a ruling that he had followed his club coach, Poly’s Sharrief Metoyer.
Chatman was stuck on the bench for the entire season until Metoyer decided to put him in during a state playoff game against Mater Dei in the closing minutes. That controversial decision led to Metoyer getting a one year suspension from coaching this season.
Chatman would have been eligible at Poly for his senior season. His father, Canaan, a former Oregon State player, had told ZagsBlog.com in July that his son would be returning to Oregon and attend Columbia Christian.
