Boys’ basketball: Rod Foster won’t be returning as Windward coach

Rod Foster, who took over as Windward basketball coach in the middle of the season after the resignation of Steve Smith, won’t be returning as coach, the school announced.

Windward has launched a search to find a replacement.

Athletic Director Tyrone Powell said after an evaluation at the end of the season, Foster decided not to be part of the program moving forward.

Windward plays in the same league with Sierra Canyon and has several high-profile players, including Shareef O’Neal, the son of Shaquille O’Neal.

No word if Shaquille will put his name in the hat to be the next coach.
