Boys’ basketball: Todd Wolfson leaves Chaminade to coach at St. Francis

Another day, another high-profile private-school basketball coach deciding to leave for another private-school job.
Todd Wolfson announced on Wednesday he has resigned at Chaminade to take the coaching position at Mission League rival St. Francis. It comes a day after Matt Dunn resigned at Damien to become the coach at St. John Bosco.
Wolfson spent seven years at Chaminade and guided the Eagles to a state title two seasons ago. He takes over a St. Francis program that didn’t win a league game last season.
“I’m happy with my years at Chaminade,” Wolfson said. “I feel we accomplished a lot. To me, it’s seizing a great opportunity and starting a new challenge.”
Wolfson also was instrumental in helping Chaminade grow its student section, known as “The Cage.” He hopes to promote similar student involvement at St. Francis.
“We’ll be starting a great student section at St. Francis,” he said.
Chaminade will begin a search for a replacement and should attract lots of good candidates.
