Boys’ soccer: No. 1 Birmingham begins bid for a City Section Division I title
- Share via
In the City Section, few tournaments are stronger than its Division I boys’ soccer playoffs, and top-seeded Birmingham will begin Friday’s championships with a home game against South East.
Birmingham is 16-2-4 and owns three wins this season over City power El Camino Real. The Patriots are led by senior Aaron Yeverino, who has 29 goals, just three short of the school record.
Another top player is junior Erik Villatoro, who has 19 goals.
If history is any indication, being the No. 1 seed is meaningless. From No. 20 to No. 1, there are solid programs capable of winning against anyone.
