Football: Cathedral finding contributors to keep advancing
- Share via
L.A. Cathedral has advanced to the quarterfinals of the Southern Section Southeast Division playoffs and faces a tough matchup against Downey on Friday.
The Phantoms have relied on quarterback Andrew Tovar, who has 44 touchdown passes, but there are lots of other contributors.
Junior Hunter Echols has 14 1/2 sacks and 62 tackles overall. Junior Dejon Stuckey moved from left tackle to center to fill a gaping hole in the offensive line. Junior Christian Daniel has seven interceptions.
Renard Bell has caught 12 touchdown passes and is averaging 19.1 yards a catch. Junior Arex Fleming has 39 receptions for 711 yards and nine touchdowns.
Cathedral, Harvard-Westlake and St. Francis are among three Angelus League teams still alive in the playoffs.
