Football: Hart, Valencia trying to take care of business this week to set up showdown

It’s a tricky week for Hart Coach Mike Herrington and Valencia Coach Larry Muir. They need to make sure their players focus on the games this week to enable next week’s showdown between Hart and Valencia to be for the Foothill League championship.
Hart (6-2, 3-0) faces Saugus and Valencia (6-2, 3-0) gets Canyon. Then it’s on to the Nov. 7 game at Valencia. Fans in the Santa Clarita Valley can’t wait for the expected shootout.
But Hart Coach Mike Herrington is more concerned about his team’s recent play. “We’ve stunk up the place the last three weeks,” he said.
Quarterback Brady White of Hart has passed for 2,396 yards and 30 touchdowns. Receiver Trent Irwin has caught 58 passes for 1,160 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Junior quarterback Cole Parkinson of Valencia is having a terrific season, with 2,020 yards passing and 21 touchdowns with just two interceptions. Bradley Prizer has caught 10 touchdowns.
