Football: QBs committing, but will they stay the course?
The decision of Gardena Serra junior quarterback Khalid Tate to commit to Arizona on Monday is another example of how colleges are seeking commitments earlier than ever from quarterbacks.
But the big question is will these quarterbacks committing so early stick with their decisions?
Former Chaminade quarterback Brad Kaaya committed to Miami in May of 2013 and ended up signing with the Hurricanes in February of 2014 only after several other schools made a run at him.
Former Serra quarterback Jalen Greene committed to Boise State in April of 2013, then switched to Washington and then to USC after coaching changes.
Schools will continue to recruit Tate, a top athlete who can play other positions.
The next expected early quarterback commitment is Santa Margarita’s K.J. Costello.
