Football: Social media helps QB Blake Barnett get a new car

A promise by the mother and father of Corona Santiago quarterback Blake Barnett to get him a car if his recruiting video reached more than 10,000 views on YouTube is about to be tested thanks to social media.

Barnett tweeted out his video with the promise.

But it wasn’t until his mother, Gina Harris, told the story on Fox Sports West’s game of the week last week that Barnett’s hopes suddenly improved.

Now the video has soared past 23,000 views and counting.

Barnett, a junior, should be one happy teenager, though Coach Jeff Steinberg claims he’s responsible for 18,000 of the views.
