Football: Strange things happening at Cathedral as a third UCLA commit changes mind
- Share via
The recruiting world is pretty strange these days, with commits lasting about a week sometimes, but what’s happened this summer at L.A. Cathedral is even stranger.
Three football players who were publicly committed to UCLA are no longer committed.
Defensive back Jeffrey Manning is the latest to decommit. He joins defensive lineman Hunter Echols and defensive back Rhedi Short as changing their mind in rapid fashion.
It’s just another day in the wild, wild college recruiting world.
“All three committed really early,” Coach Kevin Pearson said. “In talking to each of them, they just said they rushed into the decision.”
And it rasises the question whether the media should be announcing commits when they really aren’t commits.
