Girls’ golf: Alyaa Abdulghany of Corona del Mar wins CIF state individual title

The CIF state champion in girls’ golf is junior Alyaa Abdulghany of Newport Beach Corona del Mar High School.
She won the title on Tuesday at Poppy Hills Golf Course, finishing with a two-under-par 69 to score a two-stroke victory over Calista Reyes of Rancho Bernardo and Angela Liu of Lynbrook.
Born in Malaysia, she moved to the United States at a young age. She has become one of the top golfers for her age. She played last spring in the U.S. Women’s Four-Ball tournament. In 2015, she was named by the American Junior Golf Assn. as a Rolex All-American.
Manhattan Beach Mira Costa won the team title finishing with a score of 391. Walnut was second at 394. Marni Murez shot 72 and Andrea Lee 73 for Mira Costa.
