A Golden Valley basketball player was arrested Tuesday night after going into the stands at West Ranch at the conclusion of a Foothill League basketball game and allegedly attacking a West Ranch student, according to Lt. Derek Sabatini of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Department.
Sabatini said the student in the stands suffered lacerations to the face and was treated by paramedics.
The Golden Valley player left with his team on the school bus and was later arrested at Golden Valley, according to Sabatini.
West Ranch won the game, 68-58.
West Ranch Coach Shant Bicacki said he did not see what happened as his team left the court for the locker room.
“It was chaos,” he said.
On Wednesday morning, a Sheriff’s Department watch commander said the player was arrested on suspicion of battery and released.
