There’s nothing you can say about Monday’s Valley Classic soccer match between Canoga Park and Sherman Oaks Notre Dame other than it involved an extraordinary shootout between two of the best scorers in the Southland _ Canoga Park’s Ezequiel Quijada and Notre Dame’s Jesse Fitzgerald.
When the game ended, Canoga Park won, 6-5, and each player finished with four goals.
“It’s pretty rare,” Notre Dame Coach Patrick Thomsen said of two players being able to score so many goals in a single game. “You know they’re two of the best players around. They were going back and forth. To watch them lead their teams was impressive.”
Quijada set a City Section record with 120 goals in his career. Fizgerald, headed to Washington, has 17 goals in 10 games for Notre Dame.
