Softball: 271 schools make Southern Section playoffs

There were 271 teams selected on Saturday for the seven Southern Section softball divisions. Wild-card games begin on Tuesday and first-round games are Thursday. The championships will be held at De Anna Manning Stadium at Colonel Bill Barber Park in Irvine on May 30 and May 31.
Garden Grove Pacific was given the No. 1 seed in Division 1. Mission Viejo is No. 1 in Division 2.
