Junior T.J. Brock of Chaminade ran a state-leading time of 10.53 seconds in the 100 meters on Saturday during a meet at UCLA. It was only his second 100 of the track season.
His mother-coach, Tanika Brock, was pleased.
“As his coach, he still has aspects of his race to work on,” she said. “He executed well. As his mom, I’m so proud of him. It was a great open invitational 100. We’re excited with what’s to come. I don’t think he realized what he ran until after the fact.”
Considering that the state 100-meter favorite, Dominic Davis of Alemany, is in the Mission League with Brock, it’s going to be quite a battle to come in Mission League finals.
Chaminade’s Greg Campbell ran another state-leading time in the 400, 47.39.
