Water polo: Loyola defeats No. 1 Mater Dei, 8-7

Loyola added some new intrigue into Southern Section Division 1 water polo by knocking off No. 1 Santa Ana Mater Dei, 8-7, on Wednesday.
Goalie Will Rubschlager had 13 saves for Loyola, ranked No. 3 behind Mater Dei and Mission League rival Harvard-Westlake, which has lost twice to the Monarchs this season.
Mac Carey led a balanced attack with two goals.
