Unbeaten St. John Bosco has a 10-7 lead at halftime of the Pac-5 Division final, but it’s been anything but easy for the Braves.
Mater Dei took a 7-0 lead when Johnny Johnson blocked a punt and recovered the ball in the end zone early in the second quarter.
St. John Bosco capitalized on good field position to score points on two drives, taking the lead on a nine-yard pass from Josh Rosen to Jaleel Wadood 1:45 before halftime.
Linebacker Ben Humphreys has two sacks for Mater Dei, which has been limited to 19 yards rushing and 55 total yards. Sean McGrew has 51 yards in 13 carries for the Braves, who have gained 99 of their 133 yards on the ground.
St. John Bosco will get the ball first in the second half with a chance to widen its lead.
