Derek Jeter is put on the DL by the Yankees

Shortstop Derek Jeter of the New York Yankees is back on the disabled list, this time because of a strained right calf.
The move Monday is the latest setback in an injury-filled season for Jeter, 39, who did not play Saturday or Sunday at San Diego. He appeared to take an awkward step while making a play in the Yankees’ 7-2 loss to the Padres on Friday night. He also made an awkward slide into third base.
The Yankees recalled infielder Dave Adams from triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and designated infielder Brent Lillibridge for assignment.
Rangers bring up Engel Beltre and Joey Butler
The Texas Rangers recalled outfielder Engel Beltre from triple-A Round Rock and selected the contract of outfielder Joey Butler from the same team.
The Rangers also designated infielder Adam Rosales for assignment, three days after adding him on a waiver claim from Oakland.
Beltre joins the Rangers for the second time this season. He hit .300 in 13 games before being optioned to Round Rock on Friday.
Butler, who hit .290 with 10 home runs and 44 runs batted in for Round Rock, has never played in the majors.
