Update: The meeting against the defending Stanley Cup champions comes after one of the more tumultuous days for the franchise in recent years. Kings General Manager Dean Lombardi flew to Boston and fired Coach Terry Murray on Monday afternoon. Murray, who was in his fourth season as the Kings’ coach, had conducted practice earlier in the day and remains one win away from No. 500 in his career. Assistant coach John Stevens will serve as interim coach.
