Jeff Bauman, who lost both of his legs during the Boston Marathon bombing, and his rescuer, Carlos Arredondo, were honored at Fenway Park on Tuesday night.
Bauman, 27, threw the ceremonial first pitch to Red Sox catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia. Arredondo, 52, threw a pitch to slugger David Ortiz.
Both men have been hailed as heroes.
Arredondo, who lost one of his sons in Iraq and another to suicide, jumped a security fence to help victims when he heard the blasts.
Arredondo came across Bauman and helped make him a tourniquet. He then put him in a wheelchair and wheeled him down the street to find an ambulance.
Days after his surgery, Bauman gave a detailed description of the bombing suspects to the FBI, helping officials identify the Tsarnaev brothers.
The Red Sox said it was the first time since the April 15 attacks that Bauman and Arredondo could be honored together.
