Michigan State forward Clark out 6-8 weeks with foot injury

Michigan State sophomore forward Marvin Clark Jr. will be out six to eight weeks after recently having surgery on his left foot.
That means Clark could miss the beginning of the Spartans’ season, which starts Nov. 13 against Florida Atlantic. The first big game is Nov. 17, against Kansas in the Champions Classic in Chicago.
MSU coach Tom Izzo said Clark had a screw put in the foot, though the injury technically is a “stress reaction” and not a full “stress fracture.” Izzo said Clark likely would be able to play through the injury if it happened in the latter stages of a season, but MSU decided to take care of it.
Clark suffered a fractured bone in his right foot before his senior year at Sunrise Christian Academy in Bel Aire, Kan. His injury makes it more likely that freshman Deyonta Davis begins the season as MSU’s starting power forward.
