Report: Friends of Alex Rodriguez leaked info implicating Ryan Braun

Friends of Alex Rodriguez, currently appealing a 211-game suspension for his role in the Biogenesis doping scandal, obtained and leaked documents that implicated Ryan Braun of the Milwaukee Brewers and Yankees catcher Francisco Cervelli in using performance-enhancing drugs, “60 Minutes” reported Friday.
Citing unidentified sources, the CBS news show said the leak occurred in February. The report says members of Rodriguez’s inner circle purchased documents that were used in the original Miami New Times story on the Biogenesis scandal in January. The names were redacted in the original story, but Rodriguez’s team bought the documents from Biogenesis with the names unredacted and sent them to Yahoo! Sports, which reported the names of Braun and Cervelli.
Rodriguez’s lawyer, David Cornwell, denied the allegations.
“The allegations are untrue and are another attempt to harm Alex — this time by driving a wedge between Alex and other players in the game,” he said in a statement. “While Alex focuses on baseball and repeatedly states that he is going to respect the appeal process, the drumbeat of false allegations continues.”
