Herschel Walker thinks he can make an NFL comeback well into his 50s

Herschel Walker has contemplated a return to the NFL but ended up deciding he should wait a little longer.
He’s 53 years old right now.
“I’ve thought about it,” Walker said on the “Boomer & Carton” radio show, “but I’m still fighting. I’ve got to get out of the fighting first. Once I get out of the MMA stuff, then I may go back and play. I want to be the George Foreman of football.”
If anyone could make a pro football comeback in his mid-50s, it would be Walker, the former Heisman Trophy winner and two-time Pro Bowl running back who hasn’t played in the NFL since 1997.
He is known to keep himself in phenomenal shape, won a pair of Strikeforce fights by TKO a few years back and claims to have run the 40-yard dash in 4.3 seconds just a year ago without actually training.
“There is not a doubt in my mind, if I played today, I can contribute to a team,” Walker said. “Let me tell you the reason why: Running backs today don’t play every play. They only play, like, a couple of plays and they go out of the game.”
Also, he said, “I can return kickoffs. I still run very well, like I’ve always ran. So I know I can be a positive thing.”
