USC’s Antwaun Woods in hospital bed as Holiday Bowl nears

USC on Wednesday returns to practice for the Dec. 27 Holiday Bowl against Nebraska, but defensive lineman Antwaun Woods apparently will not be participating.
On Tuesday evening, Woods posted on Twitter a photo of himself in a hospital bed.
The accompanying message read, in part, “Fresh outta surgery, I told Coach I’m ready to play, I got too much heart for this ... . I promise I’ll be back even stronger than before!”
Woods, a junior, last week suffered what Coach Steve Sarkisian described as a chest muscle injury. Sarkisian said Sunday that Woods was scheduled to undergo a test.
Woods did not specify what procedure he had undergone.
Woods has played in every game this season. He has 27 tackles, including a sack.
