Rahshead Johnson, a receiver and cornerback who redshirted last season as a freshman, is no longer part of USC’s football program, an athletic department official confirmed.
Johnson’s departure was first reported by USCFootball.com.
The 5-11, 175-pound Johnson came to USC from Long Beach Cabrillo High.
He played receiver for the Trojans during training camp but was switched to cornerback early in the season.
Senior Kevon Seymour, sophomore Adoree’ Jackson, third-year sophomore Chris Hawkins, sophomore Jonathan Lockett and redshirt freshman Lamont Simmons are among the returning cornerbacks.
The Trojans have verbal commitments from several defensive backs for the 2015 recruiting class and are also pursuing Long Beach Poly cornerback Iman Marshall.
