USC recruiting: Quarterback Sam Darnold signs with the Trojans
- Share via
USC has received a letter of intent from Sam Darnold, the school announced.
Player: Sam Darnold
Position: Quarterback
Height: 6 feet 4
Weight: 208
High school: San Clemente
Verbally committed: July 18, 2014
Schools considered: Duke and Utah
Notes: Army All-American, second quarterback to commit to USC’s 2015 class after Ventura St. Bonaventure’s Ricky Town.
Darnold spoke at the Army Bowl about joining USC’s quarterback competition:
“My thought, from the beginning really, was that I’m going to have to compete wherever I go for the starting job and that’s my mind-set going in -- just to compete. That’s all I can do. At the end of the day, the coaches make the decision about who is going to be starting, so that’s not really in my power, but I’m going to give it my all for sure.”
