USC recruiting roundup: Recruits react to loss to Arizona State

Every Tuesday we will feature a USC recruiting update
USC recruits stood and watched as Arizona State players hooted, hollered and danced their way into the Coliseum tunnel after a stunning 38-34 victory over the Trojans on Saturday.
But the outcome seemed to have had little effect on the visiting high school players.
USC hosted cornerback Kendall Sheffield on an official visit from Missouri City (Texas) Marshall High. Sheffield, 6 feet and 180 pounds, is regarded as one of the top corners in the 2015 class.
A photograph of Sheffield with New York Yankees shortstop Alex Rodriguez inside the John McKay Center circulated on Twitter.
Several players who have committed to USC attended the game, including quarterback Ricky Town, offensive lineman Clayton Johnston and defensive lineman Jacob Daniel.
Daniel made the 3½-hour drive from Fresno and said on Monday he thought it was a “great, hard-fought game.”
“I was really not expecting to see it end the way it did, but at the end of the day — that’s just football,” said Daniel, adding that the loss would not change his view of the program or his commitment.
Gardena Serra linebacker John Houston and defensive end Rasheem Green and Mission Hills Alemany running back Dominic Davis were among recruits in the tunnel watching the Sun Devils celebrate.
Davis committed to Washington State but said he “loved” USC and was not fazed by the Trojans defeat.
“They utilized the tailback in every way — rushes, receptions and all that,” Davis said on Monday, “I was impressed.”
Sarkisian stops by Windward
USC Coach Steve Sarkisian attended a game at Los Angeles Windward School to see offensive lineman Roy Hemsley, who has committed to the Trojans, and 2016 recruit Breland Brandt.
Brandt, a top-rated defensive end, posted his commitment to UCLA on Instagram on Sunday.
USC coaches did not attend Friday high school games.
