Food and Father’s Day go together, which is why one Beijing hotel sent along this short film about a father, his son and one very sentimental meal.
“Taste the Past Today” was made partly in the Jing Yaa Tang restaurant inside the Opposite House boutique hotel in the city’s Chaoyang District.
“This film captures the essence of the Chinese culture,” an email from the hotel explained. “It is a very traditional and polite gesture for children and young people to ask senior family members to begin a family meal by eating first.”
It’s a poignant short to share with Dad over pancakes or a bowl of noodles.
Happy Father’s Day!
