World Spree has put together a 12-day fall tour of Vietnam that would suit independent travelers as well as those who prefer guided tours and optional excursions.
The first two days of the fast-paced Amazing Vietnam tour are spent in Ho Chi Minh City, a.k.a. Saigon, with plenty of time to explore on your own or join an optional tour of the Cu Chi tunnels. Days four and five are spent in the imperial city of Hue, one of Vietnam’s most significant historic and cultural centers. You can wander on your own or take in an optional excursion of the French Quarter or a cruise up the Perfume River to the seven-story Thien Mu Pagoda.
Other highlights include a two-night stay at the beachfront Golden Sand Resort & Spa, in the port town of Hoi An, and two nights in Hanoi, a visit to the Museum of Ethnology and a guided tour of the capital city and its French colonial buildings. An optional tour takes in Hanoi’s Old Quarter and the Hoa Lo Prison, nicknamed the “Hanoi Hilton,” and its museum.
The tour concludes with an overnight cruise on Halong Bay and a visit to a floating village. On the way home, travelers with a long layover in Seoul can take a complimentary tour of the South Korean capital.
Dates: Multiple departures Sept. 11 though May 28, 2015
Price: Cash-discount fares from $1,899 per person, double occupancy. $550 single supplement. Optional excursions $40 to $60. Fares are based on availability and are valid through June 30. Includes round-trip airfare from Los Angeles on Korean Air, taxes and fuel surcharges, all in-country transportation, accommodations, sightseeing and entrance fees, and 13 meals.
