THE BEST WAY TO CHELAN, WASH.

From LAX, Alaska, Virgin America and United offer nonstop service to Seattle; Southwest and United offer direct service (stop, no change of plane); and Southwest, Alaska, United, Virgin America and Delta offer connecting service (change of plane). Chelan, at the southeast end of Lake Chelan, is about 175 miles east of Seattle, about 155 miles west of Spokane.

WHERE TO STAY

Lake Chelan Best Western Lakeside Lodge & Suites, 2312 W. Woodin Ave., Chelan; (800) 468-2781, https://www.lakesidelodgeandsuites.com. Some 93 rooms. Indoor pool. Next to Lakeside Park and beach. Rooms for two about $190-$310 in summer.

Riverwalk Inn, 204 E. Wapato Ave., Chelan; (509) 682-2627, riverwalkinnchelan.com. Twelve rooms, about $79-$175 in summer. Cafe serves breakfast and lunch and often Thursday dinner in summer.

WHAT TO SEE

The Lady of the Lake‘s daily passenger ferry service to Stehekin, (888) 682-4584, https://www.ladyofthelake.com, includes a fast boat, 21/2 hours each way, $59 a round trip; and a slow boat, 4 hours each way, $39 round trip.

Chelan Seaplanes; (509) 682-5555, https://www.chelanseaplanes.com, flies between Chelan and Stehekin (mid-May through late October) at $79 each way ($170 round trip) per adult for the 25-minute trip.
