Where to find secondhand clothing in Vancouver
- Share via
If you’re looking to purchase secondhand clothing, here are some definitions to help you get started:
VINTAGE
Fashion’s Rebecca Tay places the timeline dividing vintage from nonvintage clothing at about 1990.
CONSIGNMENT
Shops that sell goods on behalf of owners. Owners and shopkeepers usually divide the proceeds. Often these are higher-quality fashions, including designer labels.
THRIFT SHOPS
Items are sold “as is” for bargain-basement prices, and usually the proceeds go to charity. Bargain-basement quality is usually the rule too, although there are some occasional gems.
