This hotel and casino complex overlooks the ocean and is suitable for both business and leisure travelers. Rooms are spacious, and service is pleasant. Across the street, the seaside Larcomar outdoor shopping mall offers restaurants, a multiplex and excellent music store. Doubles with ocean-view start at $245.

Country Club Lima Hotel, 590 Los Eucaliptos, San Isidro; 011-51-1-611-9000, www.hotelcountry.com. This posh property, in Lima’s most exclusive neighborhood, has old-world charm and elegance. It’s a refined urban oasis, offering tea time with piano music under a stained-glass canopy. Doubles start at $295.

Casa Andina Miraflores Centro Hotel, 5444 Avenida Petit Thouars, Miraflores; 011-51-1-447-0263, www.casa-andina.com. A clean and comfortable low-cost alternative for the no-frills traveler. One of this chain’s two locations is in Miraflores, steps from the neighborhood’s Parque Central. Doubles are $81, including tax and buffet breakfast.

RESTAURANTS

Pardo’s Chicken Benavides, 730 Avenida Benavides, Miraflores; 011-51-1-446-4790, www.pardoschicken.com. Forget everything you know about fast-food chicken. This Peruvian fast-food chain smokes U.S. contenders with its roasted or charbroiled chicken Anticuchos. Skewers made of beef hearts are also on the menu. Many locations in Lima. A whole roasted chicken with fries is less than $10.

T’anta Lima, 142-148 Pasaje Nicolas de Rivera El Viejo, Centro Hist–rico; 011-51-1-428-3115. This is one in a chain of high-end deli cafes from Peru’s renowned culinary couple, chef Gast–n Acurio and Astrid Gutsche. Located downtown near the Plaza Central and Lima’s stunning cathedral. Tapas, pasta and Peruvian sandwiches (s–nguches) are served at an inviting outdoor patio. Main dishes about $10.
