Washington, D.C.: Chic style for $109 a night at Donovan House

Off-season in Washington, D.C., means a nice break from blazing summer heat and crowds on the National Mall. Now it also means a nice break on hotel rates from Travelzoo at the stylish Donovan House: $109 a night on Fridays and Saturdays for a limited time.

When: The deal is good Fridays and Saturdays through Feb. 12 with some blackout dates. Also available weekdays Nov. 17-24 and Dec. 19-30.
Tested: I checked online and found a room for $109 on the first weekend in December, just in time to see the National Christmas Tree, which will be lighted on Dec. 1. The savings: $40 a night, compared with best available rates on the same nights.
