Laguna water poloists roll to 18-5 win

The Laguna Beach water polo 12-and-under boys’ team defeated Orange
Regional Competitive Aquatics (ORCA), 18-5, in club action.
The game was played in preparation for the San Diego County Cup
XII, which begins this weekend.
Leading the way for Laguna on offense was Nolan McConnell, who
scored a match-best six goals.
Spencer Dodson was right behind McConnell with four goals, Vagne
Carrette scored three goals, Riley Browne and Alex Shapero each
scored twice with 2 and Nicky Brunner posted one goal.
Hunter French deflected five shot attempts in net, getting strong
defensive assistance from Adam Kravitz, Trevor Collins, Eric
Henrikson, Tommy Renner and Billy Caris.
In girls’ action:
12-and-under division
Laguna rolled to an 11-2 victory over Orange Regional Competitive
Aquatics.
Led by the scoring of Melena Masson, Laguna jumped out to a 6-1
lead through one quarter, and goals by Masson, Yoshi Anderson and Ana
Carrete in the second quarter helped the team open up a 10-1
advantage.
Riley Duncan turned away two ORCA scoring attempts with two blocks
in the second quarter.
Emily Rubino scored in the third period to complete Laguna’s
scoring, and Jessie Holechek blocked two shots in net for Laguna in
the final two quarters.
