History of Surfing.” Past, present and future links between surfing
and art are explored through works of art by surfers and artists

“While Pollock Was Sleeping: Bay Area Abstract Expressionism from
the Blair Collection:” will open July 31 and run through Oct. 2.
The Blair Collection provides a rich view of California Abstract
Expressionist painting from 1948 to 1964. Many paintings in the
collection have not been displayed for more than 40 years. The
collection includes a few easily recognizable names, but many more of
the works in the exhibition are by artists who are lesser known but
equally significant to the California-based “Second Wave” of Abstract
Expressionist painting.
