o7Here are some items the Planning Commission will consider Monday.

ZONING CODE
CHANGES
The commission will consider making four changes to the zoning
code. They would allow certain types of retail sales in industrial
zones, prohibit temporary fencing on vacant property, give final
authority to the commission rather than the City Council on
preliminary plans for major developments, and permit churches in
certain types of commercial zones.
Those four changes were initially bundled into one ordinance, but
after questions from council members about the church proposal the
commission recommended bringing each item back separately.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Planning staff members recommend sending the changes on to City
Council for approval.
TATTOO PARLOR
A 500-square-foot suite at 22nd Street and Newport Boulevard will
house a tattoo parlor, if the commission approves.
The shop would have two tattoo and piercing stations and a
customer waiting area.
It would be open from noon to 10 p.m. daily.
Three other tattoo businesses now operate in the area, but police
have not reported any complaints stemming from those businesses.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Staff members recommend allowing the new tattoo shop.
JAPANESE RESTAURANT
A new Japanese restaurant will open in a suite at Baker and Bear
streets if the commission grants the necessary permits.
The full-service restaurant would serve alcohol and would be open
only for dinner, from 6 p.m. to midnight.
The business center that would include the restaurant has 63
parking spots -- three fewer than the restaurant should have -- but
planning department staff members think those will be sufficient.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Approval of the restaurant is recommended.
